Pimpri Chinchwad RTO Fines 844 Vehicles Without HSRP Number Plates.

Authorities inspected over 2,532 vehicles in July and warned motorists to install High Security Registration Plates before the mandatory deadline.
The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has initiated enforcement action against vehicles lacking HSRP (High Security Registration Plate) number plates in various parts of Pimpri Chinchwad. Between July 1 and July 27, 2,532 vehicles were inspected. It was found that 844 of these vehicles did not have HSRP number plates. Immediate punitive action was taken against these vehicles; fines totaling ₹8,44,000 were imposed, of which ₹1,77,000 was collected on the spot.
According to the RTO, the mandate for HSRP number plates was introduced for three reasons:
- HSRP plates enable accurate vehicle identification.
- They make it possible to detect fake number plates.
- They assist in investigations related to theft or crimes.
The RTO has urged citizens who have not yet installed HSRP number plates not to wait for enforcement action but to get the plates installed on their vehicles as soon as possible.
What Is an HSRP Number Plate?
An HSRP (High Security Registration Plate) is a special security number plate made of aluminum. It features a blue chromium based hologram of the Ashoka Chakra in the left corner. It also bears a unique 10 digit laser PIN that displays the vehicle's details online. The numbers and letters on the plate are in a specific font, ensuring they are clearly visible on CCTV cameras.
