A ₹28 crore industrial complex will provide affordable factory space for startups and MSMEs close to Pune's biggest industrial corridor.
Chakan, Talegaon, and Pimpri Chinchwad regions are home to numerous industrial companies, with many new ones striving to establish a foothold there. Anticipating a rise in the number of new companies, the state government has taken a significant step to support these industries. Small scale industries and startups often face major hurdles particularly regarding space availability and high rental costs when setting up their own manufacturing units; consequently, the state government has decided to construct a multi story manufacturing complex for such enterprises. This complex will be built in the Khed area of Pune.
Kharabwadi in Khed Taluka has been selected for this project due to its proximity to the industrial hubs of Chakan, Talegaon, and Pimpri Chinchwad. Adequate arrangements for water, electricity, and transportation will be provided within the complex. This facility will enable small scale industries and startups to commence production quickly while saving on the substantial capital expenditure typically required during the initial stages of a business. Sources indicate that the project is expected to cost ₹28 crore.
Given the interconnected nature of many manufacturing industries in Chakan, Talegaon, and Pimpri Chinchwad, Kharabwadi serves as an ideal location for this complex. It will be constructed on a 2,800 square meter plot. The project is being executed by the Western Maharashtra Development Corporation. Necessary clearances have been obtained from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and the Fire Department, and the project layout has been submitted to the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) for approval. This complex is expected to boost the contribution of small scale industries and startups to the supply of spare parts required for the automotive and engineering sectors.
